As you should know Oklahoma’s State Board of Education approved 13 assessments for grades K – 3 at the end of April. Here is a list of the approved assessments:
The following was just released from the OKSDE and it gives more information about each assessment. This information was gathered by the educators who volunteered to be part of the Assessment Review Committee earlier in the year:
The areas stipulated by the SDE that the assessment you choose should include are phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, spelling and vocabulary. If the chosen assessment does not meet all needs stipulated by the SDE then you must choose an additional/different assessment that meets all the areas. You also will have to have an assessment that is used for Benchmark assessment and an assessment to be used for Progress Monitoring throughout the year. If you use an assessment that only does one of the two, Benchmark or Progress Monitoring, then you must choose an additional/different assessment that meets the other requirement. The OKSDE has put out a request to all 13 assessment companies to provide a 20 – 30 minute presentation that will enable schools/districts to make informed choices. When, and if, a company complies the videos will be posted on the SDE website.
